Operations Assistant

Twelve years ago, I got my start as one of those guys you see at concerts up in the air pulling up speakers and lights. Slowly but surely I moved into managing stages at festival and concerts all over the country. Eventually I settled in Nashville with my beautiful wife, Camille. Not long after this, I became Steven Curtis Chapman’s tour manager and joined the Show Hope team. Being able to be a part of something that is helping so many children around the world has been unbelievable. I am grateful everyday that God opened this door in my life.

Video Editing Associate

I started working for Show Hope in the fall of 2008 right after graduating high school. My eyes were first opened to orphan care at the age of 10 when my family took a trip half way around the world to China to adopt my sister, Shaoey. Very quickly orphan care transformed from something I could choose to be a part of into something I had to be a part of. Since then, I have been blessed to travel around the world, and with each return my heart for the orphan continues to grow. I make my living through the art of inspiration, and have found nothing more moving than the pursuit of true and unspotted religion.

Donor Fulfillment and Office Support

I joined Show Hope’s staff in January of 2008. Prior to joining staff, I spent the majority of the preceding summer in China. What I walked away with was a new understanding of the orphan crisis. The “orphan” was no longer a vague and far off idea but now had become the children I had grown to love. I am blessed to be a part of this work and have loved watching it grow. I found my perfect fit in the financial department and look forward to many more years here.

Program Director

I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in International Relations and Russian. I first worked as a case manager for families adopting internationally and assisting birth mothers in the U.S. with domestic placements. Following this, I worked with an institute in Washington, D.C. serving members of Congress on orphans’ issues. In 2005, I joined the team at Show Hope and now oversee programs such as adoption assistance, Empowered to Connect conferences, and short-term trips. It is a privilege to serve here and witness all that God is doing in the lives of His people and these most precious of children.

I have a very close family: wonderful parents, an older sister, twin sister and brother-in-law, and younger brother. They are my very favorite thing! I moved to Nashville after graduating from the University of Arkansas in August 2010 and I love living here! My passion for orphans really took off after visiting Mozambique, Africa in college. Now those precious kids and others like them are permanently on my heart and my mind. I am so privileged and humbled to get to work alongside high school and college students as they make a difference in our world for orphans.

My compassion for children began at a young age. As I have learned more about God's heart for orphans, I have longed to be part of a ministry that acts on behalf of “the least of these.” I joined the Show Hope team in 2011 and it has been an incredible journey. Every day I am reminded of Matthew 25:40, "Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me," and I want my life to be a reflection of God's love and service. I am excited to see God's work continue to unfold!

Merchandise Manager

I joined Show Hope in June of 2011 after graduating from Belmont University with a BBA in Entrepreneurship. After growing up in East Tennessee, I came to Nashville for college and found God challenging me to serve him in new ways. My involvement in SIFE, a business-minded service club, opened my eyes to the beauty of doing business that does more than make money. Working at Show Hope is an incredible blessing because I get to do “business with heart” every day. I manage our merchandise line and enjoy finding new and fun ways to show hope with our products.

Director of Finance

I am so grateful when I think about how God led me to Show Hope. Born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio I ventured to Harding University in Searcy, AR where I pursued a degree in Accounting. After college, God took me to the other side of the world to work with a mission team in Uganda. It was there that I first encountered the plight of orphans. Little did I know that my job after returning to the United States would help children all over this world find love, care, and even families. I am so thankful to be a part of this amazing team.

Director of Communications and Program Initiatives

I’m from the Washington, D.C. area and started with Show Hope in 2005. My passion for serving the fatherless comes from both having an amazing family and from spending time with those who don’t have a family. After living for seven weeks in Ghana with thirty-two amazing children, all who happened to be orphans, I learned more from them than I have from a thousand sermons. I drastically changed my career path, and it is an honor to spend my day working to ensure children like them can know the lasting love and life-giving care of a family.

At the age of eleven I picked up a book about orphans in China. I didn’t know it at the time, but God was about to change my life. My heart broke for these children, but I also felt incredible hope reading about the miracle of adoption. Since then, God has opened doors for me to visit orphans in Mexico, Thailand, South Africa, and India, and He led me to join the team at Show Hope in June 2011. It is an honor to see God “set the lonely in families” and help others become involved in orphan care as I communicate with sponsors and volunteers.

 Katie McGunnigal

Katie McGunnigal
Short-Term Trip Coordinator

I started working at Show Hope in January of 2010 as the Short-Term Trip Coordinator and program support. This position was a great fit for me because after graduating from college I lived and worked in China for six years. It was during that time that God cultivated a deep love and passion in my heart not only for China, but also for orphans around the world. It is now my privilege to plan the short-term trips to Maria’s Big House of Hope in China and to other orphan care projects around the world. I love working at Show Hope and am grateful to be a part of this team!

 Kathy McKinney

Kathy McKinney
Grants Manager

I was born and “raised” in Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Education/English/Speech. I taught for more than 25 years. My introduction to Show Hope came during a time when I was working at a school the Chapman children attended. Because of my own experience with adoption (my husband Jerry and I adopted both of our children), I was asked to join the staff of Show Hope and was honored to do so. I count it a privilege to be a part of creating “forever families” for children in the U.S. and around the world.

As Director of Operations and Development, my responsibilities include managing the day to day operations of the organization and staff as well as overseeing any live event Show Hope produces. In the 25+ years that preceded my move to Show Hope in 2009, I worked with countless artists and writers in the Christian record and book industries, as well as in concert and event promotion and video production. My wife, Delyn, and I have three beautiful children - the youngest of whom is a daughter who was adopted from South Korea.

I have served as the Maria’s Big House of Hope Liaison since 2009. My role is to communicate the stories and needs of the children at Show Hope’s Special Care Centers, as well as coordinate short-term trips. I currently live in Luoyang, China and work from Maria’s Big House of Hope. Originally from Southern California, I have traveled extensively and worked in orphan care in several countries including Peru, Thailand, and India, serving a range of needs reaching from grassroots orphanages to long-term care for children with HIV/AIDS.

Donor Relations

In 1998, at the age of 50, I accepted a road management job with Steven Curtis Chapman and my life changed dramatically. Before that time I had managed Waylon Jennings, his wife Jessi Colter, and tour managed The Highwayman (Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, & Kris Kristofferson). I traveled with the Chapmans to China in 2000 as they adopted Shaohannah, and just recently completed my sixteenth trip back. Whether taking medical teams, donor families, or adoptive families to China, my life has been so blessed. Maria’s Big House of Hope is my piece of Heaven in the middle of China. Let me take you.

 Cathy Troyer

Cathy Troyer
Constituent Relations Manager

I began working at Show Hope in 2009 after my husband and I moved back to the Nashville area from Chicago, where we were involved in urban ministry. We have four children, all through the miracle of adoption. My job centers on communications as I work to gather and resource stories from our grant families as well as our orphan care initiatives in China. My hope is to effectively convey to our donors and sponsors just how great and lasting of an impact their partnership is making in the lives of the world’s waiting orphans. This impact would be impossible without their partnership.

 Melissa Wheatley

Melissa Wheatley
Social Media Coordinator

I was adopted as an infant from South Korea, and grew up in South Carolina with my parents and older brother. I graduated from Belmont University in 2009 with a B.A. in Audio Engineering and Religion. In July 2009, I became Show Hope’s first Social Media Coordinator. If you have left us comments on the Show Hope blog, Facebook, or Twitter, you have probably talked to me! I enjoy helping Show Hope sponsors and donors form connections with grant families and with the orphans at Show Hope Special Care Centers through our online and print communications.

Chris Wheeler
Director of Student Initiatives

I’m married to the most beautiful woman on the planet. Lindsey. We adopted our daughter, Eliana, from Guatemala and she is the perfect combination of my silliness and her momma’s sass! Our involvement with Show Hope began as grant recipients for our adoption. I love my role at Show Hope because I am passionate about inspiring students to put their faith into action. I believe students are capable of more than most adults give them credit for. I love seeing students come alive as they discover that they have a role to play in God’s heart for the orphan.
