China Building PictureCaring for special needs orphans in Luoyang, China: Show Hope is proud to be provide love and care for orphans throughout China who are in desperate need of surgeries and special medical attention through Maria's Big House of Hope.

Located in Luoyang, in the Henan province, this caring facility is a beacon of hope to the people of China and the world. With a population of around 6 million people, Luoyang is part of one of the poorest provinces in all of China. The state-run Luoyang orphanage takes care of nearly 700 children and ends up with most of the “special needs” orphans from all around Henan.

Maria's Big House of Hope is a six-story building that is equipped with everything needed to care for orphans with special needs. Every child in this facility will be 5 years old or younger, and these will represent some of the neediest orphans in China. Learn more or Donate now.

Show Hope has also teamed up with Hope Foster Home (HFH) in their vision to provide care and medical treatment for abandoned babies.  Specifically they take in babies with surgically correctable deformities who would otherwise not receive treatment, provide for the necessary surgeries, and then care for the children as their own until a permanent home can be provided.  Located outside Beijing and in the Henan province, HFH employs approximately 140 local staff that care for 62 babies, and they serve as the center for babies to be fostered in local homes in the surrounding area.

HFH takes in babies under the age of six months old and provides them a long-term, caring environment in as close to a normal home setting as possible.  Each nanny cares for the same two babies every day, which promotes normal emotional bonding.  The nannies are also well trained to care for the children.  In addition, HFH works closely with the local Children’s Welfare Institutions to provide the best opportunities for the children’s future and to raise awareness on behalf of the children.

Show Hope has made a number of trips to the home and continues to support HFH in a variety of ways.  As a result of donations made through Show Hope, children like Fu Xiao Juan, called Teresa, have been given hope.  Teresa was born March 2, 2005 in Jiao Zuo, Henan Province.  She was born with a myelomeningocele, which was corrected by visiting neurosurgeons from UCLA.  Though she suffered some complications after the initial surgery, the surgeon returned immediately to operate on her again. She has since progressed very well.  HFH will continue to be her home until she has been adopted or permanent care has been found.  We look forward to helping more children like Teresa receive a chance at a new life through Hope Foster Home.

In addition to partnering with Hope Foster Home, Show Hope is also contributing to the significant work of other groups. In May 2005, ShowHope donated $10,000 for the “Tomorrow Plan,” a government project assisting over 30,000 orphans in need of corrective surgeries. We are also supporting a ground-breaking effort called “Care For Children,” a program striving to place one million orphans in permanent homes. Thus far, “Care For Children” has helped train over 100 orphanages to place children with foster care families. In many cases, the orphans begin in foster care and end up adopted by their foster family.
