Cry of the Orphan
As a result of the ’06 Adoption and Orphan Care Summit, an exciting step was taken as Focus on the Family, FamilyLife, and Shaohannah’s Hope agreed to pool resources for the purpose of instituting an annual November Media Campaign for National Adoption Awareness Month. The goals of this exciting endeavor were to educate the body of Christ about the plight of orphans, ignite action amongst Christians, and display the unity that is greatly needed.
The momentum and awareness of the campaign continue to build every year, and God has clearly blessed the efforts to stand as one on behalf of His precious children.
- The Cry campaign reached over 10 million in 2006, 13 million in 2007
- FamilyLife, Focus on the Family and Crown Ministries coordinated their radio programming, which was unprecedented
- A viral e-mail effort announcing the campaign was sent to nearly 1.1 million in 2006, 1.4 million e-mails in 2007
- Cry received an official letter of endorsement and support from the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives
- Media coverage placements included: American Family Radio and United News and Information, radio and newspaper coverage in two Top Ten Media markets, online coverage on websites with unique monthly visitors totaling 4 million, and print coverage with combined circulation exceeding 650,000 readers
- A centralized website, www.CryoftheOrphan.org engaged web visitors with helpful information and resources on how to get involved in caring for orphans
